Merida Silex 700 review: A budget alloy gravel bike that punches above its weight

Jan 2022 · Josh Croxton

A budget friendly gravel bike that swaps speed and efficiency for comfort and capability

  • Mounts for bags, mudguards and more

  • Full-carbon fork

  • Carbon-fibre seatpost

  • Removable hex-key quick release for bolt through axles

Lows
  • No top tube mounts for extra bikepacking bag

Merida Silex 600 2020 review

Aug 2020

The Silex is Merida's main gravel bike, with the 600 sitting near the top of the aluminium range with a single-ring SRAM Apex drivetrain and mixed SRAM/Shimano brakes. It’s studded with mudguard, rack and accessory mounts, boasts an impressively smooth carbon fork and sits riders up tall for a comfy ride, but the narrow-ish wheels and tyres undercuts its rough-trail potential.
