Summary
The Merida Scultura is a highly regarded race bike that excels in performance, offering a blend of speed, comfort, and innovative design. It's praised for its superb descending capabilities, excellent braking, and competitive pricing, though some note a weight penalty on climbs. The bike's handling is described as neutral and precise, with a ride quality that's both compliant and efficient.
Superb descending capabilities
Excellent braking with innovative heat dissipation
Competitive pricing
Neutral and precise handling
Compliant and efficient ride quality
Weight penalty on climbs
RAT thru-axles can become stiff
Not as nippy uphill as non-disc versions
The Scultura Disc drops down mountains like a Stuka dive bomber.
The Scultura manages to avoid such a compromise and retains an extremely racy feel while benefitting from the grip and added comfort the wide 28mm tyres offer.
A fantastic disc machine - a rival to our Focus’s Izalco Max disc bike of the year.

This bike should be banned! Oh wait, it is banned. We’ve been out testing the Merida Scultura Disc in the Dolomites to see if the bike can keep its ‘cool’.

Ultra light but also ultra noodly and way off the pace at this price – or half of it
Great wheels
Good components
Light
Disappointing lack of frame stiffness
Weak rear brake

Like a size-zero catwalk model, the Merida Scultura 9000 is evidence that it is possible to lose too much weight.
