Summary

The Merida Ninety-Six is a world-class cross-country bike that combines speed, comfort, and efficiency, making it a top choice for racers and enthusiasts alike. Its sleek frame, excellent suspension performance, and no-expense-spared spec highlight its racing pedigree. However, some components like the RS-1 fork and stock tires may not suit everyone's preferences.

Pros
  • Eager for speed but also roomy and comfortable

  • genuine world-class XC chassis

  • impressive power transfer

  • excellent traction and fatigue reduction

  • clear on/off contrast between open and locked suspension modes

Cons
  • RS-1 fork continues to be a love/hate affair

  • only the wealthy need apply

  • more of a handful in tight turns

  • tracking accuracy is undermined by the twisty RS-1
