BIKE Magazine logoBIKE Magazine
The Rift Zone Carbon 2 has great parts, dialed geometry, and a nice ride. But the competition is tough.
Bicycling
Like a diminutive yet self-possessed pug, the Rift Zone is an almost comically bolshy bike considering its modest 120mm of suspension.

Tested: Marin Rift Zone 3 - A Dialled Trail Bike Delivered in a Box

Jul 2018

The Rift Zone sits firmly in the trail bike category, built for all-around riding with a confident and efficient nature. There’s 120mm of stout travel out the back, 130mm travel RockShox Revelation up the front, 29” wheels and all those key ingredients we look for like a single ring drivetrain, dropper post and decent width …

Highs
  • Killer value.

  • Rides really well.

  • Fast!

Lows
  • Firm suspension.

The Marin Rift Zone is a dark horse with an unassuming character, it’s a trail slayer with new geometry for 2018 that has moved this bike firmly into trail bike territory. At a humble price the 120mm bike will turn frowns upside down without the need to rob a bank. Review - Specialized Rhyme Comp 6Fattie First Look - Marin Four Corners Gravel Bike The alloy Rift Zone with it’s 120mm of rear travel and 130mm up front slots into the Marin range next to the 27.5” Hawk Hill where the travel and the intentions are the same but the wheel size differs, with the Rift Zone sporting 29er hoops.
