Marin Bobcat Trail 5 review

Aug 2018 · Guy Kesteven

Lightweight, firm-riding trail hardtail that’s still fun to ride while you upgrade. Buy if you want a fun, upgradable trail bike

Highs
  • Modern-shaped, lightweight and stiff 29er trail frame in a wide range of sizes

  • Overall ride is still purposeful and enjoyable despite component compromises

Lows
  • A wider bar and better tyres would improve trail confidence significantly

  • Heavy and basic steel-spring and straight-steerer fork is ripe for upgrading too
