Summary
The Lapierre Overvolt hybrid bike series receives mixed to positive reviews, praised for its balanced handling, efficient Bosch motor performance, and innovative suspension systems like OST+. However, criticisms include its hefty price, some component choices, and tire grip issues in wet conditions. The bike's design and technology, such as the centralised weight distribution and eMTB-specific features, stand out, though comparisons highlight areas where competitors may offer better value or performance.
Balanced handling due to centralised weight distribution
Efficient Bosch motor performance for longer rides
Innovative suspension systems like OST+ for comfort
Well-designed geometry for aggressive riding
Integrated battery and motor technology
Hefty price point
Some component choices seem mismatched for the price
Tire grip issues in wet conditions
Long back end affects maneuverability
Bosch motor can be noisy at high RPM
Lapierre has combined its fibre experience with an already proven suspension design, thrown in weight placement designed to maximise ride control, to create its 23.5kg e-bike.
It’s one of the most responsive electric bicycle systems that I have tested to date.
The Lapierre Overvolt AM 727i Shimano certainly has downhill credentials; it’s fun to ride and inspires the confidence to throw it down anything.

Less than a year ago Lapierre revealed their first Shimano eMTB, now they’ve added an additional model with 27.5+ wheels and more travel. We travelled to Corsica to find out what the new Lapierre Overvolt AMi 727 is capable of. NEW: Before we get into the review, we would like to tell you about our […]

A discreetly housed battery and bombproof build offers all-day action on Lapierre's latest e-rig, the Lapierre Overvolt AM700i electric mountain bike.
Bomb proof spec. Looks great for an e-bike.
Bosch display is bulky and somewhat exposed. A deeper tread rear tyre than the Maxxis Rekon would increase traction to better match the power.

Lapierre has got away with retro geometry thanks to motorised bulk. Buy if you’re looking for a premium, capable all-day e-bike
Well centred, well balanced bike
Long back end, hefty price

A Carbon fiber, All Mountain, limited edition (70th anniversary), electric mountain bike with Bosch CX drive system (now featuring eMTB mode for click-free riding)
Battery and motor integration are as low and center as I have ever seen delivering a balanced and stable feel, 150 mm adjustable air suspension, three frame sizes
Powerful 200 mm hydraulic disc brakes, e-bike specific eight-speed SRAM EX1 drivetrain, plus sized Schwalbe Nobby Nic tires, Boost hubs with thru axles for stiffness
More expensive because it's Carbon and limited (99 made), fatter downtube with a tray type section that could collect debris, limited availability in the US

To add to the reworking of their popular Zesty line, Lapierre also put a lot of effort going in a completely other direction. As one of the very few companies seriously developing off-road e-bikes, Lapierre has gone all in with an expansion of their Overvolt range of bikes. With three distinct mountain lines – SX (Super …
