Summary
The Kona Process 111 is celebrated for its balanced and stable geometry, making it a blast to ride with beautiful cornering and line-holding capabilities. It's a maniacally fun descending bike that climbs adequately, though its extra heft and limited rear travel can be drawbacks at high speeds or steep climbs. The bike's progressive spec and geometry, combined with short travel efficiency and big wheel rollover, offer a thoroughly contemporary riding experience.
Balanced and stable geometry
Beautiful cornering and line-holding
Progressive spec and geometry
Short travel efficiency with big wheel rollover
Maniacally fun descending
Limited rear travel can be overwhelmed at high speeds
Extra heft hampers climbing
Aggressive feel may be too much for certain terrains
The geometry chart pretty much guarantees that this thing is going to be a blast to ride
Progressive spec and geometry combined with short travel efficiency and big wheel rollover sounds like an irresistible recipe to us.
It's telling that when the 111mm rear and 120mm front 29" was released in 2014, Kona categorized it as an Enduro bike.

The Kona Process 111 may be short on travel but it's not short on fun - this 29er trail bike is a real ripper.

The Kona Process 111 is the big-wheeled bike in the Process lineup, and it's a much more capable rig than its 111-milimeters of rear-wheel travel suggests.
