Summary
The Intense Carbine is a highly capable enduro bike, praised for its supple traction, efficient climbing, and confident descending. It features a balanced geometry and JS Tuned suspension that excels in both uphill and downhill performance. While it's noted for its stiffness and durability, some riders may find it less agile in tight situations.
Supple traction and efficient climbing
Confident descending and high-speed stability
Balanced geometry and JS Tuned suspension
Durable carbon frame with thoughtful design details
Less agile in tight, technical sections
Front end can feel stiff on rough trails
Some builds may lack playfulness compared to 27.5" bikes
Glued. That’s the word that all three testers agreed was the appropriate descriptor for the sense of traction gained from Intense’s recently updated 155-millimeter-rear-travel Carbine.
The Carbine has a very confident swagger
This is a bike focused on riding down chunky sh*t really fast.

Intense’s Carbine has a relatively short lineage, albeit one that has been part of Intense’s move from a race only frame builder to complete bike company pushing out some of the industries most revered carbon frames. The all new Intense Carbine 29C is a 155mm travel enduro weapon rolling on 29-er wheels. We had a thrash of the top-end Factory model.
Pure monster truck ability.
Not the most agile or balanced in corners.

The Intense Carbine is a bike that’ll tackle the big stuff, but won’t shy away from a big day in the hills. Buy if you want a long travel trail bike, or a nimble enduro bike
Neutral shape will suit many, really versatile ride that’ll do anything, go anywhere
Conservative geometry won’t appeal to those looking purely for descent focussed performance, Yari fork feels under-gunned

The Carbine will keep you on your line and moving fast. Point it down and hang on.

With the previous Carbine a hit in the Dirt 100 three years ago, how does this latest version stack up?

After giving their Enduro-classic the Tracer a general overhaul, it was time to give the Intense Carbine 29 a face-lift. We tested the Factory Build.
