Summary

The Ibis Exie is a lightweight, efficient, and fast cross-country bike with a sustainable and beautiful frame made in the USA. It excels in handling and suspension performance, offering a playful yet sure-footed ride. While it shines on endurance rides and technical trails, it may lose some edge on burlier downhills.

Pros
  • Lightweight and sustainable frame made in the USA

  • Efficient and fast, ideal for endurance racing

  • Excellent suspension design for small bumps

  • Playful and sure-footed handling

  • Size-specific seat angles for comfort

Cons
  • Less capable on very technical downhills

  • Some build specs may not be ideal

  • Slightly heavier in the Vietnam-made version

Key Quotes
The Exie is the fastest and most efficient full-suspension bike I’ve pedaled.

The Exie was an exercise in building a bike from carbon, and building it better.

The Exie is everything we love about our US made offering (albeit ~250g heavier) in a wallet-friendly build.

Ibis Exie Review

Sep 2022 · Logan Watts

The ultralight Ibis Exie is made in their solar-powered California factory. Curious about its bikepacking prowess, we had to review one…

Highs
  • Lightweight and beautiful frame made sustainably in the USA

  • Extremely fast feeling with an efficient demeanor; could be perfect for ultra-endurance racing/riding

  • Incredibly sure-footed “stick to the trail” feel

  • Excellent suspension design handles small bumps incredibly well and feels bigger than it is

  • Massive frame triangle and built-in “portage handle”

Lows
  • Starts to lose its edge on burly technical downhills

  • A couple of build specs aren’t ideal, in my opinion, including the Rekon Race front tire and the single-piston brakes
