Giant Stance 29 Review | Full suspension fun for less

Aug 2020

Introduced as a budget alternative to the popular Trance 29, the Giant Stance 29 is an entry-level full suspension trail bike that packs in a lot of the right ingredients. After several months of testing, we discovered that it isn't perfect though. Read on for our full review of the Giant Stance 29 2.

Highs
  • Supple suspension performance

  • Comfortable & compliant ride quality

  • Usefully low-gearing

  • Smooth & reliable Shimano brakes

  • A lot of bike for the money

Lows
  • Quick release dropouts limit upgrade potential

  • Rear-end flex may be an issue for heavier riders

  • Handlebars are far too narrow

  • Effective seat angle is quite slack

Giant releases Stance 29 1 and 2

Jun 2019

Normally, choosing an affordable mountain bike means getting stuck with an outdated drivetrain, sub-standard frame geometry and/or undergunned suspension. Apparently, the Giant Stance 29 is not normal.
