Summary
The Giant Defy is celebrated for its versatility and comfort, making it an excellent choice for endurance road riding. It offers a balanced ride quality, combining stiffness for efficiency with compliance features like the D-Fuse seatpost and handlebar for comfort. While it excels in long-distance comfort and handling, some reviews note minor drawbacks such as cable routing issues and component choices.
Versatile for different types of road riding
Comfortable for long rides
Fun to take on fast club rides and gran fondos
Lively and stiff
Updated frame brings same stiffness as current generation of Propel
Stealth Stem could frustrate do-it-yourself bike fitters
Somewhat twitchy front end without proper fit
Cable routing is terrible and messy
Non-groupset specific RS510 chainset looks cheap
The goal with the Giant Defy range of bikes was to create a line that was more versatile, something that worked well for different types of road riding.
The new Defy Advanced family, which rides much more smoothly and is a little more versatile than before.
Giant’s Defy has long been the brand’s go to endurance machine, aimed at delivering a more relaxed riding position than and graced with a frame that intends to deliver comfort with minimal impact to performance.

Great ride quality from the frameset
Decent tyre clearance
Geometry gives smooth handling
Tyres feel a little 'wooden'
Not the greatest value spec-wise

What’s allowed Giant to spec such a premium drivetrain is the mix ‘n’ match nature of this bike’s braking system, which is made up of Giant’s own Conduct hydraulic disc brakes hooked up to the cable-actuated Ultegra brake levers.. .
Smooth ride, great position and good value with it
The cable-hydraulic brake system lacks feel and adds weight up front

Giant Defy, the endurance bike by the Taiwan-based company, can take you to challenging roads, comfortably

Giant’s previous-generation Defy range broke new ground in 2014 by being the first complete range of endurance road bikes from a major manufacturer to exclusively offer disc brakes. It was also a very nice bike, period, but also more of a toned-down road racer than a machine that was purpose-built for performance-oriented comfort. That’s all […]

Finally, not an aero road bike

Giant's new Defy endurance bike has several clever comfort features but has the spirit of a superlight racer. We went to Italy for a first ride review.
