Summary

The Giant Trance is a well-regarded trail bike, praised for its powerful SyncDrive Pro motor, comfortable suspension, and solid component specs. It excels in technical terrain and climbing, though some reviews note it can feel heavy in tight corners. The bike's geometry and suspension are designed for aggressive trail riding, with a focus on stability and control.

Pros
  • Powerful and responsive SyncDrive Pro motor

  • Comfortable and plush suspension

  • Solid component specs for the price

  • Well-balanced e-bike geometry

  • Fast charging battery

Cons
  • Feels heavy to maneuver in tight corners

  • Aggressive seating position may be less comfortable for some

  • Motor can be abrupt and difficult to modulate

  • Some models have mismatched suspension and limited gear range

Key Quotes
The Trance E+ frame is both longer and lower, and the head angle is slacker.

This is simply a beautiful bike, the sleek downtube integration of the battery and unobtrusive RideControl One control system make it quite stealthy.

The Giant Trance E + glides as comfortably over the trail as a Mercedes S-Class on the highway.

From our point of view we’ve found a sweet-spot with this new range. The motor handles well in technically demanding situations, as well as tight trails, which have traditionally been more of a challenge on e-bikes.

Giant Trance X Advanced Pro 29 0 first ride review

Sep 2020 · Robin Weaver

While these are still early impressions, it's an exciting new trail bike that’s eager to cover ground quickly and feels incredibly efficient thanks to the Fox Live Valve system. You’ll need to take some time trying to quieten that cable rattle down though

Highs
  • Great geometry and that steep seat angle

  • Well-considered spec

  • Fox Live Valve

Lows
  • Live Valve adds complication and lots of extra cabling which can rattle on rougher trails

  • No high-end option without Live Valve

Giant Trance 29 3 review

Dec 2019

The Giant Trance 29 3 is a sprightly cross-country weapon made for mile munching and groomed singletrack. It quickly runs out of travel when the going gets rough, though, and some of the spec choices of this base level model are a bit under par.

Giant Trance E+ 1 Pro Review

Nov 2019

Price: $5565.00 | Model Year: 2019 | A beautiful full-suspension electric mountain bike with quality components, excellent warranty and dealer support, and four frame sizes to accommodate riders of all sizes

Observations
  • A beautiful full-suspension electric mountain bike with quality components, excellent warranty and dealer support, and four frame sizes to accommodate riders of all sizes

  • Color-matched components look great along with the seamless downtube integration of the battery and internally routed cabling

  • Huge range of 11 to 50 teeth on a 1x12 SRAM drivetrain, proprietary Giant SyncDrive Pro mid-drive motor and powerful SRAM Code R hydraulic disc brakes

  • Battery charging port is in the path of the left crank arm, and charging the battery off the bike requires a separate dongle that could get lost
