Summary
The Giant Defy is celebrated for its versatility and comfort, making it an excellent choice for endurance road riding. It combines a lively and stiff frame with engineered comfort features like the D-Fuse seatpost and handlebar, ensuring a smooth ride over varied terrain. The bike's handling is praised for its balance and stability, making it suitable for both long rides and fast club outings.
Versatile for different types of road riding
Comfortable for long rides with engineered comfort features
Lively and stiff frame for efficient power transfer
Balanced handling for both uphill and downhill
Includes innovative features like D-Fuse seatpost and handlebar
Stealth Stem could frustrate do-it-yourself bike fitters
Somewhat twitchy front end without proper fit
D-Fuse handlebar’s extremely short reach and shallow drop may not suit all riders
140mm-diameter rotors front and rear may lack braking power for some
The goal with the Giant Defy range of bikes was to create a line that was more versatile, something that worked well for different types of road riding.
The new Defy Advanced family, which rides much more smoothly and is a little more versatile than before.
The Defy is Giant’s most popular road bike when it comes to sales, the everyman road offering.
Overall, though, the Defy is everything I’d want in an endurance bike.
