Summary
The Giant Anthem is a highly efficient cross-country bike praised for its precise handling, lightweight design, and improved suspension performance. It features a Maestro linkage system for excellent power transfer and climbing efficiency, along with a geometry that balances speed and comfort. However, its 27.2mm seat tube limits dropper-post options, and the 90mm travel may not satisfy more aggressive riders.
Maestro linkage’s talent for power transfer enhances climbing
Precise and sharp steering
Lightweight design
Improved suspension performance
Short chainstays and low bottom bracket for improved handling
27.2-millimeter seat tube limits dropper-post options
90 millimeters of travel may feel insufficient for aggressive riders or big hits
Conservative seat angle by today’s standards
The new Anthem was built for racers, and the majority are proud high-posters.
The new Anthem Advanced Pro 29 seems significantly improved in every way over the current model.Bicycling
Giant has returned the Anthem to its unapologetic racing roots.
The Giant blows the Specialized out of the water with this one. $8999 vs $12500, ouch.
This is a race bike though and through.

Take the high-value SRAM X1 & Pike build of the 2017 Anthem Advanced SX, grow the fork and dropper post travel, slack out the head tube angle, and throw on more aggressive rubber and you have Andrew Stone’s min-maxed Giant.

The new Anthem 29 2 is a hoot to ride, lightning fast and won't leave you filing for bankruptcy. Buy if you're in the market for an unapologetic XC racer
Geometry, wide bars, cable routing and quality not quantity approach to suspension
Some flex in the frame, 27.2mm seatpost limits choice of droppers

The Giant Anthem Advanced Pro 29 is Giant's short (90mm) travel, carbon XC race weapon. Matched to a 100mm fork it delivers almost trail bike handling.
Exceptional handling prowess.
Component list.
The ride is a little too relaxed and soft for a true XC race bike.
Tricky getting the front end set to the right height.

The bike we've been waiting for from Giant is finally here, a cross-country race bike with... wait for it... 29" wheels, yay! The new Anthem 29 is 100% ready for racing with razor-sharp handling and smooth efficient suspension. Read our full review here!
Race-ready 29er.
Fast rolling and ultra-efficient.
Supple Fox suspension.
SRAM Eagle drivetrain.
On/off suspension lockout, nothing in between.
27.2mm seat post restricts dropper post options.

Giant’s all-new carbon 29er cross country race bike is quick as lightning

Jun 2017 · Ian Collins
Giant invited us to their US office in Newbury Park, California to sample their revived efforts at an all out XC race weapon. Over the years, the Anthem has always been their shortest travel full suspension offering, but on a couple of occasions, particularly as of late – it has meandered away from its roots of being a dedicated XC race bike. With a complete redesign from the ground up, it hasn’t simply jumped back on board with the typical norms of the XC race world. In fact we found it to bring something unique to the table; mainly in terms of its

New lightweight rig is an unapologetically XC race bike with 29er wheels, 100mm/90mm of front and rear, no stock dropper post option, and 1x on most builds. - Mtbr.com
