Summary
The Giant Anthem is a versatile cross-country bike that excels in climbing and agility, with its Maestro suspension system receiving consistent praise for traction and efficiency. While it's celebrated for its lightweight design and cost-effective performance, some riders note compromises in high-speed stability and comfort on rougher descents. The bike's playful handling and plush ride quality make it a favorite for aggressive trail riding, though opinions vary on wheel size preferences and cockpit comfort.
Maestro suspension system provides impressive traction
Lightweight and cost-effective performance
Playful handling and plush ride quality
Good cable routing and componentry
Versatile for both racing and aggressive trail riding
High-speed stability can be compromised
Compact cockpit may not suit all riders
Less comfortable on rowdy descents
Dropper post reliability issues
Mixed feelings on wheel size preferences
feels like a BMX or slalom bike, NOT an XC race bike
An outstanding high-velocity race or rowdy ride predator at a cracking price.
No longer a nervous XC race bike, the 2017 Giant Anthem packs more travel and a dialled build kit to make this Giant's most capable Anthem yet.
The Anthem Advanced 2 bucks the trend of more suspension and slack head tube angles for an XC ride that’s capable — but not entirely comfortable — on rowdy descents.

The Giant Anthem Advanced Pro 29 is Giant's short (90mm) travel, carbon XC race weapon. Matched to a 100mm fork it delivers almost trail bike handling.
Exceptional handling prowess.
Component list.
The ride is a little too relaxed and soft for a true XC race bike.
Tricky getting the front end set to the right height.

Giant invited us to their US office in Newbury Park, California to sample their revived efforts at an all out XC race weapon. Over the years, the Anthem has always been their shortest travel full suspension offering, but on a couple of occasions, particularly as of late – it has meandered away from its roots of being a dedicated XC race bike. With a complete redesign from the ground up, it hasn’t simply jumped back on board with the typical norms of the XC race world. In fact we found it to bring something unique to the table; mainly in terms of its

Once the epitome of a full-suspension race weapon, Giant’s Anthem has increasingly moved into trail bike territory over the years, and this new version is the most rowdy-riding-ready yet.. .

Remember XC mountain biking? Those halcyon days seem to have disappeared from the mountain bike lexicon even though it’s the riding most of us actually
