Summary
The Giant Anthem is a versatile cross-country bike praised for its precise handling, efficient Maestro suspension, and excellent value across various builds. It offers a playful yet stable ride, suitable for both racing and trail exploration. While some models are high-priced, others provide robust components at lower costs.
Precise and decisive steering
Efficient Maestro suspension with good traction
Excellent value for money in lower-priced models
Lightweight and stiff frame construction
Capable handling for both cross-country and trail riding
High price point for advanced models
Suspension can feel soft under hard pedaling
Some components like brakes and tires are criticized for lower performance
Limited wheel size options in certain models
Fit issues such as seat angle and standover height
This cutthroat cross-country whip took my preconceptions about XC race bikes and hacked them into a cool puddle of blood.
The Maestro suspension gives a surprising amount of consistent control and smooth comfort for 100mm of travel, but can feel soft if you’re really stamping power through it.
The Anthem Advanced SX sits right in the middle. It’s a bike you can use to explore unknown trails.
Giant’s dropper post is a sight for sore eyes, we’re over the moon to see dropper posts gaining spec on a shorter travel and lower price bike like this, excellent stuff!
The Anthem SX is a seriously fun bike with superb suspension primed for trail riding, so it makes sense for about 95% of XC riders.

With a complete redesign from the ground up, it hasn’t simply jumped back on board with the typical norms of the XC race world. In fact we found it to bring something unique to the table; mainly in terms of its

Remember XC mountain biking? Those halcyon days seem to have disappeared from the mountain bike lexicon even though it’s the riding most of us actually

No longer a nervous XC race bike, the 2017 Giant Anthem packs more travel and a dialled build kit to make this Giant's most capable Anthem yet.

Longer, lower, and slacker. That's the theme for Giant's 2017 updates to the popular Trance and Anthem. - Mtbr.com

The Giant Anthem 27.5 3 is way more fun than expected but needs a few specification tweaks
Real turn of speed and precision on twisty trails, married with excellent parts
Tall/short sizing requires an extra long 100mm stem
