Reviews

Summary

The Giant Stance is a versatile trail bike that offers a pragmatic mix of performance and value, with a clean, efficient design. It's praised for its quick acceleration, respectable weight, and the inclusion of a dropper post, though some reviews note its shorter wheelbase and head angle could limit performance on more aggressive terrain. The bike's suspension, particularly in Trail mode, is highlighted for keeping the front end riding high, making it amenable to aggressive riding beyond its travel suggestions.

Pros
  • Includes a dropper post

  • Quick acceleration in Trail mode

  • Respectable weight of 30 pounds, pedals included

  • Versatile bike under $3000

  • Clean-looking machine with a simple 'get the job done' aura

Cons
  • Somewhat-short 45.3″ wheelbase exhibited some twitchiness on fast, rocky sections

  • 68° head angle was begging for more throttle twisting

  • Quick release out back is a bummer

  • Could benefit from a beefier front tire

  • Skinny qr fork can’t handle trouble like the rest of the bike

Held back by its fork, but a smooth, efficient and enjoyable XC/trail ride with added ‘proper shop’ value

The Stance’s flex-stay rear end delivers decent pedalling efficiency without compromising the grip and control of its 120mm of travel
BikeRadar logoBikeRadar
The Stance forgoes Giant’s signature Maestro suspension design for a much simpler single pivot design they have dubbed 'FlexPoint' which allows them to bring the price point down significantly.

Giant Stance 27.5 review

Mar 2016 · Guy Kesteven

Held back by its fork, but a smooth, efficient and enjoyable XC/trail ride with added ‘proper shop’ value. Buy if you want an upgrade-worthy budget full-sus bike that should be good for years – and are willing to work around the weak-link fork for the time being

Highs
  • Pedals well

  • Relatively light weight and fast tyres make for easy speed

  • Frame is worthy of upgrading

  • Available in independent bike shops

Lows
  • Skinny qr fork can’t handle trouble like the rest of the bike

  • Long stem causes stubborn steering on techy trails
