Summary
The Giant Trance is celebrated as a versatile and capable trail bike, offering a balanced mix of efficiency, comfort, and performance across various terrains. Its Maestro suspension system is frequently praised for handling rough terrain with ease, providing a supple ride that absorbs bumps while maintaining pedaling efficiency. The bike's geometry and handling inspire confidence, making it a favorite for both newcomers and experienced riders seeking a reliable all-rounder.
Versatile and capable trail performance
Confidence-inspiring geometry and handling
Maestro suspension system excels in rough terrain
Lightweight and efficient for all-day rides
Well-rounded for a variety of disciplines
Higher price point for advanced models
Some components may require upgrades
Suspension can bottom out on extreme descents
Limited adjustability on base model shocks
It’s also safe to say that the bike’s wheelbase, or at least chainstays, has been shortened, and its head angle slackened
The 2012 Trance X1 is a bike that’s more than comfortable in a surprisingly broad array of situations.
It’s fun, responsive, efficient and incredibly capable given the asking price.
The key to making the most of the situation when the going gets rough is to let the Maestro package (coupled to Fox’s engineering prowess) do the work for you as you focus on your lines.
This is one of the most precise and solid-feeling mountain bike frames I’ve ridden — period.
