Summary
The Devinci Spartan is a high-performance enduro bike that excels in rough terrain, thanks to its high-pivot suspension design which offers excellent traction and bump absorption. It surprises with its climbing efficiency, despite being a burly enduro bike, and descends with confidence and control. While it shines in technical and chunky trails, it may feel sluggish in mellower terrain and comes with some drivetrain quirks due to its idler pulley system.
High-pivot suspension excels in rough terrain
Surprisingly good climber for an enduro bike
Excellent traction and bump absorption
Controlled and supportive in corners
Sturdy, race-ready build kit
Additional drivetrain vibration from idler and chainguide pulleys
Can feel sluggish in mellow or rolling terrain
On the heavier end of the spectrum
Extra drag from idler pulley
It’s a surprisingly astute climber for an enduro bike.
The Spartan HP is clearly a big step forward for Devinci, both in terms of design and, as I’ve found out, performance on the descents.
The new Spartan HP is built to take care of business, as long as that business involves plowing through rock gardens and stomping landings.Pinkbike

I first got this frame almost a year and a half ago and eventually featured it as an all out “Dream Bike” build. It was a bit of a strange case for me at the time because I hadn’t really ridden, much less owned a Devinci until then. There are certain attributes, geometries and suspension systems that I tend to prefer, but all in all, I do my best to be neutral and open minded. When looking for a 27.5″ personal bike, I arrived at the Spartan because I tend to like Dave Weagle’s kinematics, and the geometry appeared to be right
