Summary

The CUBE Stereo 160 is a mixed bag, offering a fun and fast ride with a lightweight frame and excellent climbing capabilities, but it struggles with high-speed stability and rear suspension support. Its handling is praised for being balanced and capable of quick direction changes, though some find its geometry dated. The bike excels in cornering and traction but is let down by certain component choices and tire performance in wet conditions.

Pros
  • Lightweight and fast

  • Excellent climbing capabilities

  • Balanced handling and quick direction changes

  • Good traction and cornering performance

  • Fun and predictable ride

Cons
  • High-speed stability issues

  • Rear suspension lacks support

  • Dated geometry

  • Component and tire limitations in wet conditions

  • Noisy drivetrain and busy handlebar

Key Quotes
The Stereo’s a proven performer but its frame is beginning to look a little dated.

Tested: Cube Stereo Hybrid 140 Race 500 27.5

May 2019

The Cube Stereo Hybrid 140 Race 500 27.5 has an interminable name, though much easier to ride than pronounce while climbing a steep hill. Highs
  • Excellent value.

  • Comfortable and composed.

  • Bosch CX motor runs very well.

Lows
  • Too conservative for aggressive riding.

  • Needs tubeless valves.

[Tested] Cube Stereo 150 C:68 TM 29

Jul 2018 · Andrea Chiesa

With the Stereo 150, Cube enters the long travel Enduro 29 segment. Just a few years back, “racers” were skeptical, thinking that these bikes were way too slow in changing direction and clumsy compared to their 27.5″ wheel shod counterparts. New geometries completely changed the game, reducing the negative effects. Shorter rear triangles with lower bottom brackets and longer reach values, and also more relaxed head tube angles, made the 29ers behave almost like their smaller sisters. In this way, the lower rolling resistance and the ease of overcoming obstacles emerged as clear pluses. Some brands like Transition and Mondraker, went even further with
