[R]eviewed // Commencal Meta AM 29

Nov 2020 · Scotty Prendergast

After all these years of throwing our legs over countless trail slaying machines we are consistently amazed at how good bikes are today in comparison to how good they were 10 years ago, even 5 years ago! And just when you think things can’t get any better think again people.  [R]evolution HQ was lucky enough to get our hands on the all-new 2021 Commencal Meta AM 29er and to be quite honest the crew at Revolution were to say the […]

Tested – Commencal Meta AM 29

Apr 2019

The Meta AM 29 puts speed and fun in a synergistic balance. Going all-out feels safe enough that you can play around a bit. And in turn, that leads to more confident line choices and even more speed.

The COMMENCAL META AM 29 is as stylish as actors dressed up for the Oscars. It’s perfect for the steep, demanding trails of Andorra

  • Fun and balanced handling

  • Confidence inspiring in steep sections

Lows
  • Rear suspension tends to wallow

  • Sluggish climber

  • The quality of the finish

Commencal Meta AM V4.2 // Bike Review

Jan 2019

When I first hopped on the Meta so often would my thoughts drift back to my first legit mountain bike, a Giant AC1. It was silver, coil-sprung and opened my youthful eyes to nastier terrain. The Meta AM reminds me of this with its raw silver splendor and readiness to chew up the chunky stuff. Sure, most of my reminiscing is simply aesthetic with the Meta’s silver aluminum image and beefy stature. Plowing through questionable rock piles on the Meta would conjure fond memories and assert the bewilderment of hanging onto a pile of metal through such twisted sections of trail. Present components and geometry are a far cry from that decade-old steed. Rather than stopping trailside and removing a linkage bolt to change the suspension and drop the seat, the Meta offers on-the-fly rear suspension lockout and seat dropping among other modern standards. Its aluminum skeleton is molded and formed in unique ways that offers much intrigue, possibly more so than freshly molded carbon creations. Later as I sought to compile the riding characteristics of this bike I discovered that the word ‘meta’ means after or beyond in Greek. There’s no doubt that this bike and build can push one to their limit and possibly beyond and I truly felt that aboard on descents. It’s been on a podium tear piloted by Commencal’s Cecile Ravenal, too, who’s been nearly unbeatable in the Enduro Wordl Series these past couple seasons. While there’s a 29-inch version of the Meta AM on the horizon this is the tried and true original and shows no signs of fading away.

[First Ride] The New Commençal Meta AM 29

Jun 2018 · Daniel Naftali

It almost seems as if 29″ wheels are taking over, even in the long travel realm… A few weeks ago we were invited to Spain, in Ainsa to be precise, on the same tracks where the EWS stop was held, to experience the new Meta AM 29 in person. The Meta AM 29 is not new: we saw it under Cecile Ravanel in the French stage of the EWS, conquering everything in her path, propelling her to the highest step of the podium. Below we go over all the specs and our first ride impressions of this new, formidable beast. The new Meta AM 29 29″

Commencal Meta AM 29 Team Edition first ride review

Jun 2018 · Tom Marvin

While some longer travel enduro bikes can feel sluggish until things get steep — with a stable pedalling platform, and a geometry that isn’t ridiculously raked out — the Meta AM 29 manages to feel responsive and agile, ideal for ducking and diving around the rocks and turns that litter Ainsa’s trails.. .
