Summary
The Cervélo ZFS 5 is a highly efficient and agile cross-country race bike, praised for its progressive geometry, supple suspension performance, and lightweight frame. It excels in climbing and offers precise handling, though some reviews note limitations in descending capability and the absence of a dropper post on certain models. The bike's design is clean and practical, with a focus on race-day performance.
Progressive but racy geometry
Supple suspension performance
Lightweight frame
Efficient under power
Clean and practical frame design
Limited descending capability in some setups
No dropper post included on 100mm models
Headset cable routing can be cumbersome
Highly progressive rear end limits suspension travel
Mismatched suspension feel from front to rear
The ZFS-5 is a no-nonsense XC race machine, hyper-focused on going as fast as possible.
Combined with the springy frame, high volume tyres and low profile carbon rims, the ZFS-5 sucks up chatter like an off-road vacuum cleaner.
For a cross-country race bike, we were surprised by how readily it took to the air and impressed with the suspension’s performance upon landing.
