Summary
The Cannondale Synapse is celebrated for its comfortable, versatile ride, excelling in reducing road buzz and handling mixed terrain with ease. Its lively handling and efficient power transfer make it a joy on both climbs and descents. While it offers great value and a quality frame, some components like wheels and tyres could see improvements.
Comfortable and versatile ride
Lively handling and efficient power transfer
Great at reducing road buzz
Quality frame with room for upgrades
Competitively priced
Heavy wheels and basic crankset
Frame may feel outdated to some
Vittoria Rubino tyres slip on damp climbs
It’s a joy to descend on. It carves through the corners with a reassuring confidence but responds to sudden changes of direction when you need it to with ease.
The Synapse is now a gravel bike in all but name but do not be fooled, despite this versatility, it is yet to forget its roots in road.
When I switched out the Fulcrums for a set of my own, lighter carbon/tubeless wheels, the Synapse morphed into a true dream machine.
