At nearly 24kg, the Moterra is certainly a brute — even for an e-bike — but clever engineering means it stops short of being a blunt instrument

Cannondale Moterra LT 1 review

Nov 2018 · Seb Stott

A relatively chuckable e-bike with good parts, but slightly short sizing makes for awkward handling

Highs
  • Easy to manual and bunnyhop thanks to short chainstays and central weight distribution, good pedal clearance on the climbs, puncture-resistant tyres

Lows
  • Short wheelbase and high bottom-bracket hinder the handling, tiring on long and rough descents

Cannondale Moterra 2 Review - Prices, Specs, Videos, Photos

Jun 2017

Price: $5499.00 | Model Year: 2017 A Bosch powered Trail style electric mountain bike with custom battery and motor integration, unique batt-strap protection system, high-torque CX motor with eMTB mode. Shimano SLX groupset includes a 1x11 drivetrain with Shadow Plus chain clutch, 180 mm hydraulic disc brakes with Ice-Tech heat sinks, and finger adjustable levers. A Bosch powered Trail style electric mountain bike with custom battery and motor integration, unique batt-strap protection system, high-torque CX motor with eMTB mode.

Observations
  • A Bosch powered Trail style electric mountain bike with custom battery and motor integration, unique batt-strap protection system, high-torque CX motor with eMTB mode

  • Shimano SLX groupset includes a 1x11 drivetrain with Shadow Plus chain clutch, 180 mm hydraulic disc brakes with Ice-Tech heat sinks, and finger adjustable levers

  • Plus sized Schwalbe Nobby Nic tires provide float and comfort, Boost hubs and thru-axles increase stiffness, shorter chainstays make the bike nimble

  • The semi-integrated battery takes more effort and time to get off the bike than most other Bosch models but the downtube isn't excessively wide, linkage driven single pivot suspension isn't as good for limiting for bobbing and braking feedback

Cannondale Moterra 1 (2017) first ride - MBR

Apr 2017 · Danny Milner

At nearly 24kg, the Cannondale Moterra is certainly a brute — even for an e-bike — but clever engineering means it stops short of being a blunt instrument.

Highs
  • Plus tyres and e-bikes are a match made in heaven.

  • Bespoke tweaks to Bosch system really help rideability.

Lows
  • Carbon upper link to save 100g on a bike weighing nearly 24kg is laughable.

  • The full 160mm travel would be better still.

Jul 2016 · Alex Boyce

[ad3] Cannondale is the latest of the big name brands to throw their hat into the ring with the Moterra full suspension E-bike. With two main models, an LT 160mm travel version and a short travel 130mm trail version, there are options for varying approaches to riding. We managed to try both of the machines at the Eurobike Media days and have put together our initial thoughts on the bikes.
