Summary
The Boardman SLR series is praised for its lightweight, comfortable, and efficient carbon frames, offering a lively handling ride suitable for both racing and long-distance cycling. Its aero-inspired design and tubeless-ready wheels enhance performance, though some models may compromise on component quality to meet price points. The bike is versatile, adaptable for commuting or light touring, and stands out in its price bracket for its carbon frame quality and ride comfort.
Lightweight and comfortable carbon frame
Aero-inspired design for efficient performance
Tubeless-ready wheels
Versatile for racing, commuting, and light touring
Good value for money
Lower-level groupset on some models
Average brakes
Limited gear range on certain builds
No rack mounts on some versions
This gear is the best of the best, and has received the Cycling Weekly stamp of approval.
The Boardman seems a touch lighter than most bikes in the price bracket and a first spin delivers a decent-width grin, as the SLR 8.6 seems ready enough to get underway.
It’s a great bike for the money. Simple as that.
