Summary
The BMC Roadmachine is celebrated for its smooth ride and excellent handling, blending endurance geometry with race bike performance. Its MAHLE X20 motor system is praised for smooth, intelligent power assistance, though some note a firm ride on rough surfaces. The bike's design and integration of electric components receive mixed feedback, with some critiques on comfort and cable routing.
Smooth ride
Excellent handling
Smooth and intelligent power assistance from MAHLE X20 motor
High stiffness levels
Good battery range
Firm ride on rough surfaces
Cable routing issues
Limited comfort due to stiff frame and narrow tires
Riding position may be too stretched for some
It’s hard to tell, at first glance, that the Roadmachine AMP is an electric bike.
The support of the MAHLE X20 unit is very smooth. It intervenes less aggressively in the riding action than some of the larger, more powerful motors.
The Roadmachine AMP has the ride of a race bike, but the geometry of an endurance machine – which makes it a fun bike to ride fast.

We test BMC's Roadmachine X One Disc, a bike that blurs the line between road and gravel.
Smooth ride
Stiff frame in the right places
SRAM shifting is excellent
Tan wall tyres make everything look better
Large jumps between gears
Not fully internal cabling
Large volume tyres didn’t handle as well as we’d like

Smooth, quiet power delivery and a streamlined look makes the BMC Roadmachine AMP X a stealthy e-road bike under 30 pounds.

The BMC Roadmachine AMP ONE 2023 is supposed to be no different from its analogue sibling, just packed with extra power. But does the rear-wheel drive on the e-road bike really only weigh in on the scales?
Harmonious design language and proportions
Easy rear wheel removal
Smooth but powerful support from the MAHLE motor
Cable routing
Riding position is too stretched, tires too narrow - thus little comfort
Colour combination of tan-wall tires and paintwork not quite coherent
