Summary
The BMC Trailfox is praised for its agile and playful handling, making it a dynamic choice for enduro riding. Its suspension design offers efficient climbing and supple performance on descents, though some models can feel harsh or unstable at high speeds. Overall, it excels as an all-rounder, particularly in eMTB versions, but may have limitations in comfort and component durability.
Agile and playful handling
Efficient suspension for climbing
Stable and responsive ride quality
Solid build kits with no obvious weaknesses
Excellent all-around performance for eMTB versions
Rear suspension can be too harsh
Lack of stability at high speeds
Noisy chain slap
Limited battery life for eMTB models
Inconsistent brake performance
It’s a bike that urges you on to ride dynamically, dishing out feedback generously, which is surely down to the firmness of the super-efficient suspension.
Speed really is your friend here.
Overall the Trailfox is the best all-around eMTB that I've tested to date.Pinkbike

BMC Trailfox AMP SX gets the treatment to make it more gravity focused. A 170mm Fox 36 fork slackens the head angle and gives you 20mm more travel up front.
Solid build kit with no obvious weakness
The 500Wh battery is the limiting factor
Only available in three sizes

The Trailfox Amp offers superb performance, but does its massive price tag kill its potential?
Great all-round ride and handling
Stiff carbon mainframe and rocker links
Expensive
Shimano's big and heavy integrated battery

The BMC Trailfox 01 was one of a handful of long-travel 29ers that hit the market a few years ago, firmly distancing the bigger wheels from their XC roots.
