Summary
The Basso Diamante is a handcrafted Italian aero road bike known for its aggressive geometry, exceptional handling, and distinctive looks. While it excels in speed and responsiveness, its ride quality can be firm, and comfort may be compromised on longer or rougher rides. The bike's aerodynamic design and premium build options cater to racers seeking performance, though it faces stiff competition in the aero road bike market.
Aggressive and fast handling geometry
Exceptional handling and responsiveness
Premium Italian craftsmanship
Aerodynamic design with subtle tweaks for speed
Adjustable cockpit for personalized fit
Firm ride quality can be uncomfortable
Less comfortable over rough surfaces
Heavier frame and fork compared to competitors
Late entry to the aero road bike market
Dated cable routing in some models
Basso promises some extra veloce by way of small frame reshaping, a totally internal routed cockpit, and an all-new fork with more tire clearance.
The overriding sensation from the very minute I sat down on the Diamante SV was firm, and that’s being generous.
The Basso Diamante SV might be showing its age a little compared to aero road bikes launched in the last 18 months, but it's still a real head-turner and a fine option for those who want quality Italian craftsmanship and are prepared to pay for it.

Basso’s Italian racer geometry is in full swing despite attempts to add compliance. But that’s all the more reason to love it
Aggressive
Fast handling geometry (if that’s your thing)
Punchy spirit
Finely crafted
Room for 28mm tyres
Firm ride
Geometry will be divisive

Great looking
Corner handling is good
Very responsive ride
Jarring ride quality
Shorter wheelbase

The one purebred Italian racing-steed in our group test, the Basso Diamante SV Disc, has literally dominated social media over the past few months.
Agile and sporty character
Braking performance
Finish (Colour scheme)
ZCable ports look shabby
Internally routed cables rattling

The Diamante’s front end makes this model stand out — the integration of the fork crown into the oversized head-tube junction is something we’ve seen before, but the top of the head-tube is set deeper into the frame than usual for a super-slammed front. . .

The Diamante has been the premier carbon road frame in Basso’s catalogue for several years, however it has always been a largely traditional offering. That is until 2017, when the company unveiled the Diamante SV, an aerodynamic version of the flagship model, followed by the addition of disc brakes for 2018. In terms of keeping […]
