This sturdy cargo e-bike packs the punch needed for hauling while offering high-tech security features uncommon at its price point. In recent years, cargo e-bikes have become all the rage. They allow families to spend more time together while enjoying the outdoors. They encourage a healthy lifestyle while also being environmentally friendly. And they share
The Abound LR feels responsive and powerful—a great combination on a bike meant to haul cargo or passengers effectively. Its 750W motor delivers power intuitively, thanks to its adaptive torque sensor.
The integrated ACU module with 4G connectivity allows users to access security, location tracking, and customization features through the Aventon app.
The bike’s gravity cast frame isn’t just for looks; the Abound feels solid and sturdy when carrying cargo, thanks to its internal reinforcement and telescoping quill stem.
This bike can go the distance! With its 708-Wh battery, the Abound LR gave us one of the longest Range Test results we’ve seen from a cargo e-bike.
We found the ride to be comfortable due to the Abound’s suspension seatpost and suspension fork with 50mm of travel.
The Abound LR’s 440-lb payload capacity is on par with many similar cargo bikes, but not all others come with so many accessories! The bike includes wheel guards, footboards, and a lockable frame storage bag.
Aventon offers a variety of additional compatible accessories, including standards like seat pads and cargo baskets, plus uncommon options like the front pizza rack.
Riders around 6’ and above may not have full leg extension with the bike’s 350mm suspension seatpost. We encourage Aventon to use a longer seatpost in the future.

Aventon takes their bike to the next level with the development of the Aventon Control Unit, now available on their short-tail cargo bike, the Abound SR. Read our review to see if this utility e-bike checks the boxes on what you need as a car replacement.
While Aventon has a long-tail cargo bike in their lineup, they were missing the short-tail, utility bike that has been so popular with people of all ages. The Abound SR fills that gap.
Aventon takes a very big step up in technology with the introduction of their ‘ACU’, or Aventon Control Unit. The ACU provides some really standout security features that we don’t generally see on a bike at this price range, including: a lockable kickstand, a lockable battery, password protection for the bike, theft/bike movement notifications, and geofencing. Aventon is pretty proud of this technology, and I think that pride is warranted.
The Abound SR pairs with the well-designed Aventon App, which allows for OTA (over-the-air) updates. We’ve even worked with Aventon the last 2 weeks to improve the motor performance, and appreciate how Aventon could continually improve the ride experience and keep the bike updated in the future.
At first glance, we were wary of the 36V system. Most cargo bikes tend to come with 48V systems. We’ll discuss it more below, but Aventon chose the 36V system to use less raw materials while still trying to match the performance of a 48V system. After riding the bike for 2 weeks and working through the motor settings with Aventon, we would agree and think they did a good job on the motor output and power levels. See Latest Price
