Summary

The Alchemy Arktos is a versatile enduro bike praised for its innovative Sine suspension system, which offers a unique leverage rate for smooth small bump compliance and progressive mid-travel support. It features a slack headtube and longer wheelbase for stability, with options for adjustable travel and mixed wheel setups. While it excels in downhill performance and climbing confidence, some riders may find it less ideal for tight technical trails or taller riders may struggle with fit.

Pros
  • Innovative Sine suspension system

  • Slack headtube and longer wheelbase for stability

  • Adjustable travel and mixed wheel setup options

  • Full size water bottle inside the frame

  • Super Boost Plus rear end for stiffness

Cons
  • Taller riders may have fit issues

  • Not ideal for very tight technical trails

  • High entry-level price

Key Quotes
I hate to say something at 8 grand is affordable, but that’s a real competitive price point when looking at industry standards for the level of build at hand.

The Dual Short Link is the heart of the Sine suspension. As the bike moves through its travel, the leverage rate resembles a Sine wave.

[Tested] Alchemy Arktos 150 MX

Dec 2021 · Ian Collins

It’s been quite some time since I’ve tested a bike with somewhat unconventional suspension kinematics. Enter the Alchemy Arktos 150 –  in this case, the Arktos 150 MX. It has a mullet wheel setup and 170mm front travel paired with 150mm of rear travel. Utilizing “Sine” suspension – aptly named after a sine wave, the bike has a rate that runs regressive to progressive, then regressive again. That right there is the unconventional part, but more on the topic of kinematics later. Something that’s interesting about the Arktos lineup is just how neatly spread across the travel/duty spectrum it is.
