Want a lighter bike than the pros can ride? Trek is offering a new UCI-Illegal build for the Madone Gen 8 road bike.

Trek’s attempt at an all-round race bike
Lighter yet just as fast as the previous model
Responsive handling
Improved clearance for 32mm tyres
Fragile headset top cap cover
Value relative to some competition

Three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond once said, ‘It never gets easier, you just go faster.’ It’s a phrase
Low weight
Comfortable at the saddle
Fast-riding
Firm front end
Pro ride position

Trek’s new eighth-generation Madone is lightweight, aerodynamic, and fast—the road bike raced by Lidl-Trek in the 2024 Tour de France.

A revamped Trek Madone Gen 8 has a frame that slices through the wind and sails up climbs

Trek's new Madone supersedes its aero champion and kills off the Emonda altogether - matching both historic models is a tall order, though
Fantastic ride quality and comfort
Rigid in power transfer and handling
Stunningly light
A blisteringly fast bike
A slanting water bottle is a problematic life partner
Pricey in the higher spec models
juin 2024 · Dave Rome
Trek’s latest generation Madone and now all-rounder road race bike. It replaces the pre-existing Madone SL and SLR, along with the Emonda carbon range.
Improved ride quality
Unapologetically a race bike
Unique looks
Easily adjustable stem height with efforts taken to simplify headset compatibility
Madone SL now lighter than previous SLR
And now equipped with appropriate tyre widths.
Still not the lightest option nor the most aero bike Trek could make
Trek’s own aero bottles are an integral part of the bike’s aero performance
Headset still lacks sealing.

It had its idiosyncrasies – including flip-out 'Vector Wings’ in the head tube – but we wish every new bike offered as many interesting features as the Trek Madone 9 Series did back in 2015
