Aventon Level 4 Electric Bike Is Here—It Takes On Big Brands on Price and Performance

mars 2026

After years of testing commuter ebikes, we think Aventon’s Level 4 line is its biggest leap yet, with two well-equipped models that take aim at the big brands on price and performance.

Points forts
  • Peppy mid-drive motor

  • Semi-electronic drivetrain with autoshift feature

  • Fully equipped for commuting

  • Added power and torque over Level 3

  • Regenerative braking for slight range increase

  • Everything you need for commuting

Points faibles
  • Suspension post feels a little soft

  • A slight price increase

Electric Bike Report
Aventon Level 4 ADV Review | Is This the Perfect Commuter?

mars 2026 · John S. Bozick

With a mid-drive motor and fully automatic pedal assist and shifting options, this Level offers premium features for experienced cyclists and new riders alike. While there’s no such thing as a perfect e-bike, every now and then, one comes along that feels *this* close to reaching its full potential. Aventon’s last-gen Level 3 was one

Points forts
  • The Level 4 ADV delivers an engaging and exhilarating ride with natural-feeling pedal assist from its custom 250W mid-drive motor.

  • Compared to the rear-hub Level 4 REC, the ADV offers many upgrades to justify its higher price, including better components, a bigger battery, and even more cool tech.

  • It’s ideal for those with range anxiety, giving us one of the best Range Test results we’ve seen from similar commuter-style e-bikes.

  • Like other Aventon models, the Level 4 ADV stands out from the competition due to its customization and security features. Tune the motor, track its location, and more!

  • It can be ridden as a fully automatic e-bike, with a tunable auto shifting mode and an Auto assist level.

  • Aventon offers a total of five frame sizes between the high step (HS) and step-thru (ST) frame styles, each equipped with an adjustable stem. This allows it to fit riders 5’ 3” to well over 6’ 3”.

  • Its ride is smooth, comfortable, and off-road-friendly thanks to its 50mm suspension seatpost and 100mm suspension fork.

  • The bike’s handling is excellent, with a sporty, sharp, and responsive feel that matches its appearance and speed capabilities.

Points faibles
  • While the Tektro hydraulic brakes performed well, we encourage Aventon to use a system that enables brake lights in the future.

  • The bike’s electronic shifting is cool, but somewhat limiting. Multiple gear changes require some advance planning and time.

Aventon Level 4 ADV Review - Mid-Drive Muscle Meets Modern Tech

mars 2026 · Mike East

Check out our all-new Aventon Level 4 ADV review! After spending a few weeks with it, testing it, and just riding for fun all over town, we know the new Level 4 ADV better than most.

Observations
  • The Level 4 ADV is the mid-drive version of Aventon's all-new Level 4 lineup, and it makes a strong case for the extra $800 over the rear hub REC. Powered by Aventon's new Ultro-S mid-drive motor with 100Nm of torque, the ADV brings a noticeably different character to the Level platform with smoother, more natural power delivery, a lighter overall weight, and a claimed 110 miles of range that our real-world testing actually backed up.

  • This review covers the Step-Through frame in the Regular size, tested in Haze, one of two colors exclusive to the ADV. Beyond the motor, the ADV adds a Shimano CUES 10-speed drivetrain with electronic shifting and AutoShift, Auto pedal assist mode, a larger 800Wh battery, and the full ACU smart security suite with GPS, 4G connectivity, geofencing and an electronic rear wheel lock baked in.

  • Both high-step and step-through configurations are available across three frame sizes, and the ADV ships fully equipped with integrated front and rear lighting with turn signals, a rear rack, fenders, and a 4A fast charger in the box. If you want the most capable version of the new Level 4, this is it. See Latest Price
