Resumen

The Canyon Torque:ON is a high-performance enduro e-bike designed for serious downhill capability, featuring a mullet setup for improved maneuverability and obstacle attack. It boasts a Shimano EP8 motor for efficient climbing and comes with options for aluminum or carbon fiber frames, top-shelf suspension, and large battery capacities for extended rides. While it excels in downhill performance and inspires confidence on steep, rough trails, it may not be the best climber in technical sections and its weight and price point may deter some riders.

Pros
  • Bridges the gap between e-bikes and full downhill bikes

  • Mullet set-up for better obstacle attack and maneuverability

  • Shimano EP8 mid-drive motor for remarkable climbing ability

  • Top-shelf suspension components for serious downhill capability

  • Large battery options for extended ride times

Cons
  • Not the most adept technical climber

  • High price range and weight may deter some riders

  • Limited support from the rear suspension in some models

  • Shimano motor noise on descents

  • Pedal strike becomes a factor on rocky and rooty climbs

Key Quotes
What has a 250W motor, the ability to go for five hours (or more) and can handle drops that would make elevators cower?
Electric Bike Report
The Torque:ON CF 9 is a rowdy trail bruiser and excellent shuttle replacement.

With 180/175mm of travel and geometry that’s low and slack, there are no points for guessing what the Canyon Torque:ON CF is designed for.

2023 Canyon Torque:ON

dic 2023

The Canyon Torque:ON CF8 is an unapologetically big, brash, full-powered e-bike that is meant to be ridden hard!

Máximos
  • Carbon frame and mid-upper tier components are a great value at this price point

  • 720 or 900 Wh battery options

  • Impressive suspension kinematics and geometry keep the bike extremely capable on big features, but is still fun on less aggressive terrain

Mínimos
  • Very low bottom bracket makes for frequent pedal/frame strikes

  • Lacks finesse while climbing and descending technical terrain

Canyon Torque:ON CF 9 review – long-travel electric monster truck that corners like a hot hatch

feb 2024 · Mick Kirkman

The Torque:ON is the Canyon’s longest travel, hardest charging, biggest battery-ed, most DH-orientated e-bike, but is it simply too much for most UK trails?

Máximos
  • All the range and all the capability

  • Rides way lighter and more reactive than you’d imagine

  • Super stiff and solid, without being too sharp and edgy

  • Fantastic handling and low-slung center of gravity

  • Near flawless parts package

Mínimos
  • The flat, hard and uncomfy Fizik saddle

  • Occasional pedal strikes due to low BB

  • Obviously, you need more than trail center terrain to let this thing rev up

The 2024 Canyon Torque:ON CF finally gets the EP801 motor

oct 2023 · Knut Nes

The new Canyon Torque:ON CF was introduced earlier this year. But, as opposed to the new Spectral:ON CF/CFR, the Torque:ON was equipped with the old Shimano EP8 (EP800). Canyon said the Torque:ON was designed to use the new EP8 (EP801), but they...

2023 Canyon Torque:ON CF Review | Could this beast of an e-MTB be too much bike?

ago 2023

With masses of travel, a mullet setup and the option of a 900Wh battery, the Canyon Torque:ON CF looks like a gravity rider's dream e-MTB.

Máximos
  • Absolutely unstoppable on the descents

  • Incredibly plush & supportive suspension

  • Mullet setup is a winner

  • Adjustable long-stroke dropper post

  • Two battery options

Mínimos
  • Not the most adept technical climber

  • Needs steep terrain to get the most out of it

  • This bike deserves tougher tyre casings

  • Shimano motor is noisy on the descents

Canyon Torque:ON Review – First Look at a Downhill Beast

may 2023 · Patrick Brady

What has a 250W motor, the ability to go for five hours (or more) and can handle drops that would make elevators cower? That would be the new Torque:ON, a new model from the German company Canyon that bridges the gap between e-bikes and full downhill bikes. With 170mm of travel in the rear and

MBR
Canyon Torque:ON electric mountain bike review - MBR

may 2023 · Danny Milner

If you’ve ever braaped an imaginary throttle as you’ve powered out of a tight switchback, or stuck an inside foot out as you’ve landed a jump into a berm, then Canyon’s new Torque:ON freeride bike will elevate your supercross fantasies to new heights. Hey, there’s even a Ken Roczen special edition colourway to satisfy the frustrated MX superfan.  The Canyon Torque:ON not the e-bike for you? Then check out our buyer’s guide to the best electric mountain bikes. Need to know Built for blasting self-shuttled bike park runs 175mm of rear wheel travel paired with a 180mm fork Mullet wheels and four frame sizes across a three model range Shimano EP8 motor with 85Nm and 600W peak power Choose to run either 720Wh or 900Wh battery  Split top tube accommodates custom gas tank-inspired drinks bottle Three models with prices starting from £5,749 No more lift tickets The idea of a burly, self-shuttled bike park bruiser is not a new concept at Canyon – it has had a Torque:ON in the range since 2021 – but with 27.5in wheels front and rear and a measly 504Wh battery on board, it never really caught on. This new version stuffs its predecessor into the hay bales with a far more attractive (and moto-inspired) mullet wheel set-up, and enough battery power to let you smash out laps until your arms fall off. Taking the clever modular battery idea from the Spectral:ON, this new Torque:ON will accommodate either a 720Wh or 900Wh power pack to run its Shimano EP8 motor. The battery slides out the bottom of the fully enclosed down tube, so it’s easy to remove for charging, or you can swap between the options depending on whether you want long range or less weight. There’s a £350 price difference between the two batteries at the checkout, as well as a 910g weight penalty with the bigger unit. More strength, less weight Canyon’s engineers have gone to town on the new frame design, with a layout that puts the shock low and inline with the down tube, driven by a huge, solid-carbon seatstay extension. Everything is pumped up and overbuilt, but the new frame is claimed to be 1.5kg lighter than the old model, while bringing stiffness improvements of 7% to the front triangle and a whopping 25% at the stays. Testament to the abuse it’ll take is the fact that it exceeds cat 5 certification.  Onboard water feature The signature feature of the new frame is the split top tube, where a custom drinks bottle nestles between two carbon struts. It’s undeniably moto-inspired, and while this gas tank only fuels the human engine, you’ve got to hand it to Canyon for going to such lengths to accommodate a bottle. Run the Torque:ON with the 900Wh battery combined with a full ‘Hydration Station’ and you’re looking at adding over 1.5kg to the weight of the front end, which will not only have an effect on fork pressures, but it will almost certainly make the …Continue reading »

Máximos
  • Rock-solid. Doesn’t even break sweat below 25mph. Choice of battery size.
