Specialized Turbo Levo SL Expert

Mar 2024

The Specialized Turbo Levo, a flow trail rider's dream, effortlessly navigates lips, roots, and rocks with its lightweight design, albeit with a reduced battery range compared to competitors, making it ideal for those seeking a playful ride with motor assistance.

Highs
  • Extremely light

  • Fun and poppy suspension kinematics

  • Available range extender

Lows
  • 360 Wh battery range may not be enough for some riders

  • Less supple in chunky terrain than the travel numbers would suggest

2026 Specialized S-Works Turbo Levo 4 Long Term

May 2026

This now-discounted, longish-travel, fire-breathing eMTB does many things well

Highs
  • Powerful and refined Brose 3.1 drive unit with good adjustability

  • Excellent climbing ability with good grip and controllable power

  • Outstanding cornering, especially in mullet setup

  • Highly adjustable geometry (BB height, head angle, chainstay length)

  • Convenient in-frame storage and stem tool

  • Frame-only option available

  • Discounted pricing makes it more competitive

Lows
  • Expensive even after discount

  • Feels tippy and pitches forward on steep, rough descents and deep g-outs

  • Apple Find My feature difficult to set up

  • 3D-printed saddle collects mud in winter

  • Occasional clunky shifts from XX drivetrain

  • App auto-start requires 'always' location permission

  • Controller long-hold conflicts between Micro Tune and Find My

Specialized S-Works Turbo Levo 4 e-MTB review

Jul 2025

With its latest generation e-MTB, Specialized has the likes of Amflow and Bosch set well within its sights as the S-Works Turbo Levo 4 boasts big power and serious integration. With that, it provides an approachable and easy to get on with ride that’ll please a serious range of riders, new and experienced. However, you’ll have to pay for the privilege, the GENIE tech may be an acquired taste, and it’s not quite as light as I would expect for the rather serious outlay.

Electric Bike Report
Specialized Turbo Levo Gen 4 Review (2025) | ElectricBikeReport

Apr 2025 · Justin Taylor

Specialized enters the 100Nm of torque club with its newly launched 3.1 motor More torque, more power. It’s a move that we expected to see across eMTB motor manufacturers ever since DJI launched its Avinox, which can reach up to 120 Nm of torque with a max output of 1000 watts. With up to 111Nm

Highs
  • Increased torque (101-111 Nm) and power (720W) to compete with DJI

  • Motor is responsive and natural-feeling

  • Fast charging: 80% in under one hour with 5 amp charger; 12 amp charger available

  • Modular battery system: 840 Wh standard, 600 Wh option, 250 Wh extender

  • Well-spec'd components that don't require upgrades

  • SWAT downtube storage for tools and tube

  • Improved pricing: S-Works at $13,499, Comp at $7,999

Lows
  • Ships with 2.3" tires instead of 2.4"

  • Price still high, though reduced

  • Tended to get louder over time (referring to previous motor 2.2, but may apply to new 3.1)

Apr 2025 · Mike Kazimer

The S-Works motor has 111 Nm of torque and 720 watts of max power output.

Highs
  • Instant power delivery, and plenty of it

  • 840 Wh battery as the stock configuration

  • Very adaptable, whether that's geometry or battery size

Lows
  • Heavier than expected

  • Deserves more travel

  • Class 3 option shouldn't be a feature
