What defines a Gravel Bike? What defines a Cross-Country Mountain Bike? Where do the lines blur? Have you ever taken your gravel bike on singletrack trails and wished you had just that little bit more tire on the dirt? Maybe a little more suspension so you could rail the berms faster and harder? The Droptimator is the answer to all of your questions.
The Droptimator is the evolution of what would happen if we took a Storm King GP gravel race bike and an Optimator XC race bike and blended the two together. It’s not just a drop bar mountain bike, it is THE drop bar mountain bike. Rather than just installing drop bars on our Optimator XC bike, we thought the design through and really took a step back to figure out what would make this bike special. XC bikes are designed for a specific type of terrain as are Gravel bikes. As Gravel racing and XC racing continue to evolve, so have the courses they are raced on. The result is that the equipment that is used for those types of events needs to evolve as well. The Droptimator is that evolutionary step forward for the next generation of racing. It’s not a pure Gravel bike and it’s not a pure XC bike. It is its own bike.
Each Droptimator is custom designed for the individual rider. There is no geometry chart for this bike. This bike is a combination of the bikes you ride as well as our own bikes. The fit is dialed in for you specifically so that when you get on the bike, it fits and feels like it is supposed to. A perfect fit each time. When you are on the gravel, it feels like a Gravel race bike. When you hit the singletrack, you are railing corners and sprinting out of them just like you would on an XC bike except you are using drop bars. The fit of the bike is not an XC bike and the geometry is not a Gravel bike. It is a blending of the two with some additional touches to make it truly special.
Component build specs can vary wildly for this type of bike. Thus, we are only offering the model as a frame or a frameset on the website to keep things in check.
