More trail worthy than previous models, the 2022 Specialized Riprock 20 and 24 sport some great improvements, but stop short of perfection.

Highs

  • Aggressive geometry

  • Hydraulic disc brakes

  • Microshift Advent 9-speed drivetrain with clutch

  • Lightweight compared to predecessor

  • Dropper post compatible (even 20")

  • Wide handlebars for stability

  • Plenty of traction from Ground Control tires

  • Reasonable price point

Lows

  • Seat post cannot be slammed low enough for shorter kids (20")

  • Low stack height limits fit for taller riders

  • Handlebar too wide for some small riders

  • Base model lacks suspension fork (may disappoint some parents)
