It’s the kind of bike that makes you want to smash your favorite downhill trail into oblivion, but the bonus is getting to have a lot of fun on the way up, too.

Sept 2024
The long-travel, big-boned bruiser from Norco, can handle heaps of sketchy descending - and then take you back up for round two
Burly and capable on rough terrain
Powerful and responsive Bosch motor with smooth delivery
Excellent suspension kinematics (VPSₕₚ) with good support
Stiff frame and swingarm for precise tracking
Compact, internal storage via modified Crankbrothers tool
Wireless Bosch components reduce cable failure risk
Walk mode works well
Good range with 750Wh battery (real-world 30km+ with 1400m climbing)
Excellent brakes (upgraded to Maven)
Fun to jump and bunny hop despite weight
Makes challenging climbs easy and inspires confidence
Heavy (~60 lbs as ridden, ~57 out of box)
Motor rattles on rough downhills (similar to Shimano EP8)
Crank boot rubs chainstay, causing paint damage
Chain snapped during ride (likely due to rider force)
Rear derailleur cage bent (multiple times, potentially from mullet setup)
Lock function via app inconvenient (not remotely operable, phone needed)
Display only shows battery in 10% increments, no numeric percentage or speed
Not ideal for low-angle trails without features
Tough to initiate wheelies (rear wheel lift) due to suspension kinematics
Overkill for areas without challenging descents

The Range VLT is a big, burly eMTB that sits in the 'shuttle truck replacement' category.
Great downhill performance
Big battery allows for big rides
Quicker handling than the geometry would suggest
Split between sizes may make sizing tricky for some riders
Heavy, even for a full power eMTB

June 2024
With a dialed build and insane capability for rough and rowdy descents, the Range VLT is a killer machine for the right rider and terrain.

How many full-power emtbs have been launched this year? Yeah, Merida did one. Norco is here to fix this by introducing two bikes, the new Slight VLT and Range VLT. These have powerful motors and big 750 Wh batteries. The Slight and Range VLT...
