Riassunto

The Vitus Sommet is a highly praised enduro bike, known for its balanced performance, efficient suspension, and exceptional value for money. It excels in both climbing and descending, offering a playful yet capable ride. The bike's carbon construction and well-spec'd components contribute to its lightweight and robust nature, making it a favorite among riders looking for a versatile enduro machine.

Pros
  • Blissfully well balanced

  • Smooth yet supportive and efficient-pedalling suspension

  • Impressively light and well equipped for the money

  • High-quality Toray T700/800 carbon construction

  • Fast and efficient on climbs and flat sections

Cons
  • Lower ride height is welcome but making it longer too would be even better

  • Small control compromises can add up at the ragged edge

  • Floppy-carcassed Light/High Grip WTB Vigilante front tyre

  • Simpler damping internals of the Pike RC fork

  • Fractionally less rich modulation of the Guide R brakes

Vitus Sommet VR

ott 2017

The 155mm rear travel Sommet is Vitus’ enduro/all mountain bike available in both aluminium and carbon frame options. This well-specced VR version is the cheapest, but it still nails the essentials for smashing around the woods or dipping your toes into enduro racing. With quality RockShox suspension and essentials like a dropper post and grippy tyres, the VR was already a good deal at two grand, but this year’s model now has another £300 off, making it even more attractive.
