Things have come a long way since then and riding this aluminium S-Works Allez showed me that you can’t judge a bike’s comfort just by looking at what it’s made of.
With £1,000 to spend on a sporty all-rounder, frankly, we can’t think of a better way to blow it.

Ever since its launch way back in 1981, Specialized’s now ubiquitous Allez has garnered quite a reputation over the past 32 years. Widely regarded as the benchmark when it comes to affordable alloy, the long-running success of the Allez can be attributed to many things, not least an attractive price tag
