Riassunto
The Revel Ranger is a versatile cross-country bike praised for its efficient suspension, lightweight frame, and exceptional climbing capabilities. It descends better than expected for its geometry and weight class, offering a fun and responsive ride. However, it's noted for being expensive and having tight tire clearance with 2.6” tires.
Efficient suspension maximizes momentum
Very lightweight; better than most in its class
Climbs exceptionally well
Descends better than expected
Great components selection
Tight tire clearance with 2.6” tires
Expensive
Short travel noticeable in rough terrain
Not the lightest down-country bike
It’s clear that the relatively safe geometry, in combination with the CBF, results in a quick and efficient ride.BIKEPACKING.com
I absolutely loved the Ranger. After every ride I came home raving about it.
The Ranger V2 is just as capable as ever, but it’s faster and feels more laser-focused whether carving lines through singletrack or hunting down a technical KOM.

Is stiffer better? If you're talking about rear triangles, the new Revel Ranger v2 suggests that, yes, stiffer IS better.

A hard-hitting short-travel full-suspension bike from Colorado-based Revel Bikes.
Absolutely gorgeous
Excellent handling
Highly capable suspension
Very good pedaling performance.
Kinda heavy
Firm-feeling suspension lacks liveliness
Thermoplastic wheel upgrade is a hard sell.

The latest Revel Ranger keeps the best attributes about the first version but makes it a better bike for the long haul.
Great suspension manners
Stiff and responsive frame
Eagle Transmission compatible, tougher frame
Front end can feel long on climbs

The 2023 Revel Ranger was just revamped and we had the chance to review this short-travel full-sus 29er through its paces before the launch
Efficient suspension maximizes momentum to power through challenging situations that might otherwise cause a hang-up
Very lightweight; better than most in its class
Climbs exceptionally well
Descends better than you’d expect from the geometry and weight class
Great components selection, albeit expensive
Despite the claimed 2.6” tire clearance, it’s really tight (I had some rub during a death mud encounter with 2.6″ tires)
A slightly larger frame triangle space would be preferable
30mm rims would be more versatile than the specced RW27s
The techy/industrial design might not be for everyone
Expensive

A new rear end allows version 2 to take advantage of SRAM Transmission.

With 115mm of travel, the Ranger seems fit for everything from cross-country to trail riding – how is Tom getting on with his custom build?
Cable routing was nice and simple
Mix of dependable parts should make maintenance easy
Freehub is a touch loud for my tastes
