Riassunto
The Pivot Switchblade is a versatile enduro bike praised for its adaptable geometry, DW-link suspension, and ability to run both 29-inch and 27.5+ tires. It excels in descending with a stiff frame and efficient suspension, though some reviews note it could be more aggressive in steep terrain. The bike's climbing efficiency and grip are highlighted, but comfort issues like knee pain from crank design and overly stiff wheels are mentioned.
Versatile with ability to run 29-inch or 27.5+ tires
Stiff frame and DW-link suspension for confident descending
Short chainstay length improves handling
Super Boost Plus rear hub increases wheel stiffness
Adjustable geometry with lower headset cup
Overly stiff with Reynolds wheels, causing difficulty in holding a line
Does not inspire aggressive pedaling, prefers a seated approach
Effective seat angle feels slouched back when climbing
Race Face Aeffect crank results in a wider Q-factor, causing knee pain
Rear suspension can feel slightly outgunned on rough terrain
It feels like a 135-millimeter all-mountain bike.
The Pivot Switchblade Pro 29 is an absolute blast on most terrain
Although I had more testbikes with me in Saalbach, I always wanted to get back on the Switchblade.
Long, low, and playful is the pervasive theme of this bike.
Using our next-generation, hydro-formed aluminum allows us to achieve the same strength, stiffness, and on-trail performance as the carbon Switchblade

PIVOT SWITCHBLADE PRO XT/XTR 29ER REVIEW IF A SURVIVAL KNIFE WERE A BIKE Words by Mike Wirth | Photos by Katie Jane Photography When Pivot launched their original Switchblade in 2015, it wasn’t actually original at all. At least the name wasn’t. The true OG

The element of “pop” can be tough to describe, but when it’s felt, the definition becomes crystal clear. The Pivot Switchblade is a pop machine, and it’s apparent from the very first pedal stroke. With DW-Link suspension, designed by the guru Dave Weagle himself, there’s no question as to where this indescribable amount of energy comes from, nor is there a question as to how to make the most of it. The Switchblade answers that itself by boosting off every jump and bump in sight. The same fundamentals that make this bike an instrument of antigravity also give it a uniquely agile feel for when it’s on the ground—even if those moments are rare. With short chain stays and a steeper seat-tube angle the Switchblade is a nimble climber that transfers pedal power to traction well, even while out of the saddle.

Can Pivot’s Switchblade really make a £9k price tag seem worth it? Guy Kesteven has been blasting his local test trails in a responsible, solitary fashion to find out
Super clean, precise and efficient but still smooth and grippy
Excellent all round aggro handling balance
Super Gucci XTR/Fox/Reynolds build kit
Delicious frame detailing
Sweet custom air shock but coil shock compatible too.
Very high price
Too progressive for most riders in stock form
Press Fit BB and option limiting Super Boost rear end
XTR brake pad rattle drove us nuts

The next Pivot Switchblade is here and we were lucky enough to ride it on the same trails it was developed on - South Mountain.

The latest version of the classic Pivot Switchblade 29 trail bike has 142mm travel married to a 160mm Fox 36 fork. Prices start from £5,700.
Playful, versatile trail bike that isn’t phased on fast, rough trails.
Inconsistent bite-point on the Shimano XT brakes makes it hard to modulate speed.

Pivot jumps into 2020 with big updates to a popular bike, and we're confident in saying that it's an incredible ride.
