Field Test: 2022 Norco Range C1 - The Pedal Friendly 'Downhill' Bike

set 2021 · Matt Beer

There aren't many bikes out there that can match the Range's appetite for rough terrain.

Pro
  • Suspension performance is top notch

  • Quiet - minimal chain slap and rattles

  • Low standover with short seat tube and center of gravity

Contro
  • Lots of hardware to keep an eye on

  • Cable routing is convoluted

  • Weight will discourage some riders

Bike Review | Norco Range C1

lug 2021 · Spencer Astra

The new Norco Range is a ground-up reimagination of what the Range line is, including its intended rider. After the Canadian company sized up its little sibling, the Sight, it opened an opportunity for their product team to insert a dedicated big-mountain enduro bike into their lineup. The Range now sports 170 millimeters of travel, front and rear, with a fancy new high-pivot suspension linkage system designed around an idler pulley. After spending time aboard the Range, I can confidently say this is a bike that makes no apologies for being a downhill terrain destroyer. Though first, as is often the case, we must climb. And it’s here that the Range is more of a mixed bag. The bike’s new-age geometry, with its 480-millimeter reach (size large), 77-degree seat tube angle and 442.5-millimeter chainstays, makes for a completely grounded climbing experience no matter how steep it gets. Even on the harshest inclines it's challenging to pull the front end up. This planted feeling allows the rider to stay seated and simply enjoy the climb, frustration free. However, I did find a pain point with the Range in the form of lost power on climbs. Between the idler pulley, extra chain length, Maxxis Double Down MaxxGrip tires and overall heft of the complete bike, I found myself gasping for more power than my quads could produce. Climbing aboard the Range certainly is a great workout!

Norco Range C3 29 Review

lug 2018 · Christoph Bayer

The stand out feature of the Norco Range C3 29 immediately catches your eye: the poison green DVO Diamond fork and Topaz shock. The exotic looking suspension fits perfectly into the overall package – but how does it perform? For an overview of the test fleet head to the group test: Love at first sight […]

Norco Range A3 650b review

mag 2018

The Norco Range A3 is an alloy enduro bike with strong downhill potential but it’s left wanting longer and roomier geometry to really make the most of the suspension on offer. Review: Specialized Enduro Comp 29/6Fattie Buyer's guide to mountain bike tyres - all you need to know There are a plethora of Range options available from Norco, with wheel sizes, material and prices to suit all budgets and preferences. Here at off.road.cc we like to test the cheaper end of the spectrum, hence we’ve got the bottom of the range alloy A3 with 27.5” wheels in for test, costing a not too shocking £2,200.

Norco Range A3 (2018) first ride - MBR

apr 2018 · Mick Kirkman

Norco Range A3 is an economically viable enduro option from the Canadian big hitters. Eats up rough ground, stops confidently with good composure.

Pro
  • Smooth, silent and calm bombing downhill

Contro
  • Sluggish to accelerate, too heavy and lacklustre on flatter trails

Norco Range A3 Tested - The Entry Level Aluminium Enduro Rig

mar 2018

The Norco Range out-performed the Trek Slash in our recent shootout, but that was the top-end carbon frame model. Here we have the base level Norco Range A3 on test, a wallet-friendly $3699 aluminium frame version built on the same platform that we know well. Let's see how it hold up after a good old thrashing.

Pro
  • Dialled frame geometry, so capable on hard trails.

  • Complete component package.

  • That red paint!

Contro
  • Uncomfortable brake/shifter/dropper post ergonomics.

  • Not a lightweight bike.
