Nel corso degli anni ho avuto modo di testare diverse bici Lapierre, seguendone l’evoluzione modello dopo modello. Nelle ultime stagioni tuttavia il brand di Digione ha scelto di concentrarsi prevalentemente sul segmento della pedalata assistita, abbandonando il settore DH che è sempre stato uno dei punti di forza del marchio e mettendo in pausa lo sviluppo dei progetti di enduro e trail, che hanno sempre visto il leggendario Nico Vouilloz impegnato non solo come progettista ma anche come atleta. Bikes, such as the Vitus Escarpe use a similar design to good effect, and while the Lapierre displays similar traits (good small bump sensitivity, ‘bottomless’ feel through bigger hits), it’s not quite as smooth as the Vitus, partly thanks to the use of a more basic RockShox Deluxe RT shock.. .

The new Lapierre Zesty AM 327 is long, low and lithe.
Fast and playful on the smoother trail centre runs. Decent value for money and comes with a dropper as standard.
Chunky-looking frame is a tad heavy, garish colour, felt a little too long on a couple of really tight switchbacks.
