A bike with lower gearing will be easier to ride up steep hills, while a higher top end means it will pedal faster down hills.

Riassunto

The Kona Process 153 is a versatile enduro bike that excels on steep and technical trails, offering a confident and natural feel on descents. Its geometry strikes a good balance between stability and maneuverability, though it may feel less energetic on mellower terrain. While the bike's suspension performs well, some components like brakes and tires could see improvements.

Pros
  • Excels on steep and technical trails

  • Confident and natural feel on descents

  • Good balance between stability and maneuverability

  • Comfortable climbing position

  • Supple rear suspension soaks up heavy hits

Cons
  • Feels less energetic on mellower trails

  • Some components like brakes could be improved

  • External cabling not very neat

  • Limited sizing options

  • Heavy for its category

2024 Kona Process 153 CR DL Gen. 3 Review

dic 2024

The Supreme Council might have a tough time putting a stamp on the Gen. 3 Process 153. In some ways it handles like an enduro bike, stomping big lines and landing softly, but it's not too much for lower angle trails or janky business thanks to its modest length and sensible geometry. Based on my experience on really rough and fast stuff, it may not be suited to everyone looking for an enduro beast, but that's the only situation where it wasn't up to the task. It's great in the air, beastly in corners and it devours flow trails, even technical ones with quick left to right switches and surprises to keep you on your toes.

Pro
  • Solid feeling build with no rattles

  • Very quiet on the trail

  • Versatile geometry feels at home in many situations

  • Pedals well with minimal bob without climb switch engaged

  • Good suspension performance

  • Roomy standover accommodates riders of different sizes

  • Corners beautifully

  • Handles big hits like it has more than 153mm of travel

Contro
  • SRAM G2 brakes are suitable for trail bike territory but out-gunned on more challenging lines

  • Effective seat angle looks good on paper but taller riders may find themselves too far behind the bottom bracket

  • Chunk, or repeated heavy impacts, or rough and loose conditions, when paired with speed, are not the P153s strength

  • Stack a little low; preferred with a 50mm riser bar

  • Rockshox Reverb Stealth seat post limited to 200mm, overly complicated, requires more insertion length

Kona Process 153 DL 29 Review: Mellow Yellow

lug 2022 · James Vincent

The latest Kona Process 153 rolls on 29in wheels and sits in the middle of the Process range; Process X on one side, Process 134 on the other.

Pro
  • The geometry. Like all Konas it’s sorted

  • The rear suspension

  • That yellow

Contro
  • Average brakes

  • And fork

  • Heavy for what it is

Review: 2022 Kona Process 153 DL 29

feb 2022 · Henry Quinney

The Process 153's geometry is modern without going to extremes, which adds to its versatility. It's also very yellow.

Pro
  • Balanced geometry that has an emphasis on trail riding

  • Comfortable climber, especially on more gradual climbs

  • A good frame that would be worthy of future upgrades

Contro
  • Shock tune didn’t offer enough support

  • For a bike that isn't an enduro bike, it's not that light

  • Brakes are underpowered for the bike's capabilities

Kona Process 153 DL 29 review

apr 2021 · Robin Weaver

Not the sprightliest on mellower trails, but comes alive on steep, chunky stuff. This build doesn’t offer the best value for money, though

Pro
  • Really comes to life when the going gets steep and rough

  • Great geometry

  • Winning tyre combo

Contro
  • Not great value for money

  • Doesn’t feel the most energetic on mellower trails

  • SRAM G2 brakes are okay, but I’d prefer more powerful Codes

Kona Process 153 CR/DL 29: first ride review - MBR

giu 2020 · James Bracey

With chunky tubing and a tidal wave of travel with the Kona Process 153 CR/DL 29, is Kona out to prove that bigger is better?

Pro
  • Playful, agile ride. Specification needs nothing changing.

Contro
  • The rear suspension can feel a little over-worked on rockier trails. The price has shot up.
