Rapporti

A bike with lower gearing will be easier to ride up steep hills, while a higher top end means it will pedal faster down hills.

Riding the 2021 Knolly Warden LT

nov 2020

Knolly has a new series of bikes out. I've been out on the Warden LT, and here to report on what it's like.

Pro
  • Playful and agile handling on tight, technical trails

  • Stiff and precise aluminum chassis

  • Excellent suspension components (Fox 38, Float X2)

  • Well-thought-out build kit overall

  • Fun and sporty suspension feel

  • Great climbing position with steep seat tube angle

Contro
  • Stock tires (Maxxis EXO+ MaxxTerra) inadequate; frequent flats

  • Noisy initially (seatpost creak, cable rattle, front end creak)

  • Left crank fell off during test

  • Frame feels compact for its travel; geometry feels dated

  • Short chainstays require conscious weight shifting at speed

  • Suspension not progressive enough; bottoms out easily

  • Bushing friction in linkage initially

  • Derailleur exploded prematurely; 157mm rear end may contribute

  • No bash guard included
