The Yeti 160e is a high-performance enduro e-bike that excels in suspension performance and downhill capabilities, offering a balanced geometry and intuitive handling. It's praised for its Sixfinity rear suspension, powerful Shimano EP8 motor, and impressive battery life, though some reviews note its high price and weight as drawbacks. The bike is compared favorably to models like the Specialized Levo and Santa Cruz Bullit, but its value for money and motor noise are points of contention.

The Yeti 160E T1 – In our big 2023 enduro group test

déc. 2022 · Lars Arendt

Cult brand Yeti was in no rush to make its debut in the eMTB segment. However, good things take time and the American brand knocked it out of the park with their first ever motorised bike, so we decided to pit the best eMTB of the year against the hottest analogue enduro bruisers of the […]

Points forts
  • It’s an eMTB!

  • Combines traction and composure

  • Intuitive handling

Points faibles
  • It’s an eMTB! ;)

  • Annoying EP8 clunking noise

  • Short-travel dropper post and long seat tube restrict freedom of movement

After building exciting mountain bikes for nearly four decades, the American cult brand is rightly considered one of the pioneers of mountain biking. However, Yeti were also one of the last to jump on the electric bandwagon. Now they’re determined to secure victory in our 2022 eMTB group test. Was the Yeti 160E T1 able to assert itself against the competition with its Shimano EP8 motor, 630 Wh battery and complex Sixfinity rear suspension?

Points forts
  • Enormously-wide range of applications

  • Excellent suspension performance

  • Near-perfect spec

Points faibles

Yeti 160E T1 review

déc. 2021 · Alex Evans

Masterful performance on all terrain types thanks to impeccable suspension and great geometry. The 160E is eye-wateringly expensive, though, and the EP-8 motor failed during testing but was replaced under Shimano’s warranty scheme. Therefore, my score is based on the bike’s performance alone.

Points forts
  • Super-supple, supportive and progressive suspension sets new benchmark for enduro bikes

  • Well-considered geometry

  • Overall downhill capabilities hard to beat

Points faibles
  • Value for money isn’t great

  • Tyres are disappointing on a bike of this nature

  • EP-8 motor failed after a month of use

  • Impossible to evaluate longevity of pivot bearings during month-long test period

Yeti 160E T1 review: great handling, suspension, cornering, comfy - MBR

nov. 2021 · Danny Milner

Long-awaited Yeti 160E T1 e-bike is built to race with a complex six-bar linkage that claims to bring efficiency and composure on the roughest descents.

Points forts
  • Great handling and suspension balance. Confident cornering. Comfortable at pace.

Points faibles
  • Seat tube could be shorter. Heavy and could be more agile. Some heel rub with wide feet. Shimano charging port and battery release could be more refined. Very expensive.
