Résumé
The Vaast A1 gravel bike stands out for its unique magnesium-alloy frame, offering a lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and eco-friendly option with excellent ride quality and versatility. Reviews highlight its ultra-damped ride quality, good value, and impressive tire clearance, though some note quirky frame geometry and practical niggles like chain rub and awkward cable routing. The bike's handling is described as responsive and fun, with a comfort level that disperses vibrations well, despite some stiffness in the fork.
Unique magnesium-alloy frame material
Ultra-damped ride quality
Good value
Excellent tire clearance
Responsive handling
Quirky frame geometry
Chain rub on chainstay yoke
Awkward cable routing
Creaky seatpost
Stiff fork
There’s a strange quietness and smoothness to how the Vaast A/1 rolls across coarse tarmac and rougher dirt roads, sort of like how a luxury car more thoroughly isolates you from the buzziness of ground texture.
The frame comes alive when the going gets rough with a sprightly spring to the tubing that’s as stiff as it is responsive, yet it controls vibrations and knocks with a wonderfully softening touch.
It’s certainly versatile enough for anything from the commute to a day-long adventure and more.

Vaast is a new American brand built around Allite’s new “Super Magnesium” tubing. Claimed to be stiffer, lighter, more sustainable, and smoother-riding than aluminum — and at similar cost — Vaast is hoping to succeed where Pinarello, Kirk, and others have failed in the past. The A/1 is the brand’s versatile gravel model, and there’s […]
Ultra-damped ride quality, very good value, smart spec, gorgeous paint.
Quirky frame geometry, chain rub on chainstay yoke, goofy cable routing, awkward stock lever position.
