Résumé

The Trek Top Fuel is a highly efficient cross-country bike praised for its climbing prowess, light weight, and responsive handling. Its suspension offers superb small-bump compliance, making it a favorite for XC racing and marathon events. However, some reviews note limitations in descending capability due to narrow handlebars and steep head angles.

Pros
  • Efficient climber

  • Light weight carbon frame

  • Superb small-bump compliance

  • Adjustable geometry with Mino Link

  • Quick and efficient handling

Cons
  • Front end could feel twitchy on tough descents

  • Narrow handlebars hinder descending

  • Limited travel for large hits

  • Bontrager tires underperform in technical terrain

Key Quotes
The small-bump compliance is superb for an XC rig. It feels like it has more than 100 millimeters of travel.

The Trek Top Fuel 9 manages to tread a fine line between a taut and lithe XC race machine and a bike that most riders would be happy to use for general trail duty.

Trek Top Fuel 9 (2017) review - MBR

mai 2017 · James Bracey

Swing a leg over the Trek Top Fuel 9 and the first thing you notice is the suspension is keen to get working. It’s a seriously rapid bike on the trails.

Points forts
  • Rewarding ride provided by the Re:aktiv suspension.

  • SRAM X1 groupset performed flawlessly.

Points faibles
  • Handling is marred by the miniscule bar width.

  • Tyres are inappropriate for most British conditions.
