The EX performs brilliantly on everyday singletrack—the kind of trails you want to ride for hours upon hours. Its handling traits are balanced and nimble, thanks in part to its low bottom bracket and ample standover. Rear shock tune feels a little too firm when 'Trail' mode is engaged. Fork is noisy. Would be better without a triple ring crankset.

Trek’s all-rounder is a superb showcase of enjoyment boosting technology. It's responsive and efficient enough for epic cross-country but more than tough and confident enough for technical descents
