Transition’s lightness, both in feel and on the scales, makes for a bike that can be pedaled farther and pointed down gnarly lines with fresh legs, thanks to the overall efficiency.

A Sedona hot lap on the new Transition Spur suggests this is a bike that can punch above its weight.
Incredibly light
Playful geometry
Lifetime frame warranty
Limited colorways
Some might like more adjustability on the fame

Call it a downcountry bike, a short-travel trail bike, or an aggressive XC bike, at the end of the day this Spur is all about having a good time, no matter which way the trail points..

juil. 2021 · Robin Weaver
The Spur manages to balance speed and efficiency with more than enough downhill composure that would put a lot of longer travel trail bikes to shame
Great geometry
Smooth and composed downhill
Sprightly and efficient uphill
Reactive and fun to ride
Needs a 180mm rear rotor as standard

Long-term review and comparison of two category-bending short-travel mountain bikes – both of which are happy to wrestle a weight class up.
Excels at long days in the saddle
Loves quick backdoor rips
Progressive pedaling platform, stiff and efficient
Good small bump compliance
Comfortable riding position
Punches above its weight class
Snaps and pops, playful
Lower weight compared to Tallboy
Hardware well-engineered, paint held up well
Rubber bumpers keep frame tidy and quiet
Flexes around at speed in rougher terrain
Less traction than bigger bikes
Less room for mistakes on gnarly terrain
Premature bushing wear on SID fork
Stock wheelset deemed cheesy (DT Swiss), star ratchet issue
Tallboy more confidence-inspiring on steep/gnarly terrain
Tallboy pedals better on rough technical climbs with more traction

With how perfectly the Transition Spur walks the line between XC and trail, you'd never know it was the brand's first go at it.
A true modern trail bike
Super efficient climber
Parts spec skewed for descending
Lightweight (5.4 pound frame, 25.2 reported test weight)
Lifetime warranty
Entry-level price for a complete bike is $5,000
May not be XC enough for die-hard racers

Say hello to the latest release from Transition Bikes called the Spur, which slots into a category that the brand hasn’t had an offering in to date. Ever heard of a bike category called ‘down country’? If not, think of it as ‘XC’ but without the mandatory shaving of your legs and removing the peak from the front of your helmet. From a traditionally very gravity orientated bike brand we were more than a little curious when we heard that […]

Transition Spur joins the downcountry mountain bike wave. Sporting modest amounts of suspension travel but not shying away from aggressive geometry.
Perfect speed/capability ratio.
Business-like way it keeps wheels on the ground.
